Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963. Joining the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1984, he became the premier guard of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Jordan was the NBA's leading scorer for seven straight years (1987-93) and holds the career record for scoring average (32.3 points per game). He was NBA's most valuable player for three years (1988, 1991-92) and led the Bulls to three NBA championships (1991-93). He retired in 1993 and signed (1994) with the Chicago White Sox, playing baseball in the minor leagues.
