Dr. Laura Schlesinger was born in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her Ph.D in Physiology from Columbia University (College of Physicians and Surgeons), NY, and a post-doctoral certification in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA.

Since 1994 her talk-radio show, The Dr. Laura Show, has grown swiftly in popularity across the United States. The show focuses on human problems and relationships. Dr. Laura advocates taking personal responsibility for one's life and behavior rather than blaming others, a philosophy which is a vivid contrast to that of popular psychology.

She has published several bestselling books, beginning with "10 Stupid Things Women do to Mess up Their Lives", "10 Stupid Things Men Do To Mess Up Their Lives", "How Could You Do That? The Abdication of Character, Courage and Conscience", and most recently, "The Ten Commandments: The Significance of Godís Laws in Everyday Life."

Dr. Laura Schlesinger holds a black belt in martial arts. She is married to Dr. Lewis G. Bishop and they have one son, Deryk.
