Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born November 11, 1974 in Los Angeles, California, the son of George and Irmalin DiCaprio. He attended school at the Center for Enriched Studies and John Marshall High School in Los Angeles, and admitted that he was not a good student.

He began his acting career as a young child, appearing in commercials and on various television programs and sitcoms, most notably "Growing Pains". In 1993 he appeared with Robert DiNiro in This Boy's Life and also that year starred in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? a film which earned him favorable critic reviews and awards. In 1995 he starred in The Basketball Diaries.

His best known films are Romeo and Juliet, 1996 and the immensely popular Titanic, 1997.

He filmed The Man in the Iron Mask in 1998, and also did work for Woody Allen’s Celebrity.
